Lingering hopes
My hopes kept lingering the air
of yet untrodden hill and field
I started out to see what there
the newborn future'd yield.

I did discover in surprise,
that destiny's not by the dice,
to change its tidal turn
hard lessons one must learn.

Expectantly I looked upon
those hopes that just kept ling'ring on
I wanted them to travel high
and let me hitchhike to the sky.

Then in a flash I saw as true,
which energy would make them go,
that it was I who put them there
and thus can take them anywhere.
